Using irssi with torsocks

I installed tor and torsocks in order to try connecting to some onion domain IRC servers with irssi. I open irssi with torsocks irssi and run the following commands as per this guide;
https://trac.torproject.org/projects...ifyHOWTO/irssi

Code:
/NETWORK ADD Server1
/SERVER ADD -network Server1 examplesite.onion 6667
The commands I input are:

Code:
/NETWORK ADD torserver1
/SERVER ADD -network torserver1 theoniondomainIamtryingtoreach.onion 6667
but whenever I run /connect torserver1 it says:
Irssi: Unable to connect server <theoniondomainIamtryingtoreach.onion/ port 6667 [No such file or
directory]

I'm thinking I perhaps misunderstood the formatting of the instructions? I am fairly new to IRC in general so this may be the case. Any idea what I'm doing wrong here?

edit: I forgot to include the error message given from the terminal;
Code:
1601767629 PERROR torsocks[20565]: socks5 libc connect: Connection refused (in
socks5_connect() at socks5.c:202)
It says connection refused but I wouldn't be too sure that it's a problem on the server side as I had already tried connecting to the onion domain in question in the tor browser and it seemed to work fine, I suspect the problem most likely is to do with my end and how I tried setting everything up.
