syg00 is correct in that the image posted is from the target machine, that is I have run dd from the machine I want to copy onto a USB HDD, and moved that USB HDD to the target that I want to dd the image onto. So I should simply be able to run the command you posted below
Code:
sudo dd of=/dev/sda if=/dev/sdb1
A couple questions.
1. Would it benefit me to go back and redo the dd using /image.img?
2. for the syntax of the command, does it not matter if the of= is before the if=?
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it, but if you can read the filesystems involved rsync might be an easier & quicker way of doing this as it doesn't need identical drives.

Never done it this way, but my feelings would be:
No.
No.
Alright the image has been copied over. I won't be able to boot the server to verify and test until tonight. But will update with how it turns out. Thanks to all for the support. Fingers crossed
I beg to differ.
If that thumbnail was from the target, then the disk has been recognised, but /dev/sdb1 can't be mounted as it's the dd'd image. Given statements in the first post, this will restore that image onto the target - simply reversing the initial command.
Code:
sudo dd of=/dev/sda if=/dev/sdb1
True, but if he wants to actually put the image on /dev/sdb then my answer is right.
If he wants to put a different drive in place of sda and copy the image to it then your answer is right.
The OP needs to be a little more clear in what he is doing with the hardware / image / other.
