usermin and mindterm ssh problems

I have installed usermin and it is working great except for the ssh client built into it. It asks me for a login and password, but after accepting it, it immediately says offline. I am running gentoo, and am having similar trouble with mindterm. In mindterm is asks for a login but then says that "Authentication method 'password' not supported by server. This program works on redhat/fedora systems, but why not on either one of my gentoo machines?

Thanks for any help!

SOLUTION:

Instal Ajaxterm and set up apache to use mod_proxy to forward traffic to localhost:8022

if anyone wants specifics in the httpd.conf...reply back and I'll post my config
