usb keyboard undetected

I have installed PCQLinux 2004 (kernel 2.6.2-2.160) but my keyboard is not getting detected and hence I cannot login. The installation also has a 2.4 kernel which is running successfully. How can I make 2.6 kernel detect my keyboard. I don't want to use usb to ps/2 converter for my keyboard.

Thanking you
sushant

can you please post the .config file located in the 2.6 kernel source directory, or, if you are familiar with recompiling your own kernels, check to make sure that the USB HID devices option is enabled for your 2.6 kernel
