I have a 32 Mb flash drive sold by Wolverine Co. Thing was touted as being Linux compatible. I modprobe'd usb-uhci and usb-ohci. Both were found and added. modprobe'ing usbcore returned a module not found error. The system autodetected the flash drive at that point, and all was good. The only problem was that the system would not umount the drive. Ok, fine. I just shut the system down after I was finished, and disconnected the drive.
A couple of days later, I saw that I had updates. I updated to kernel 2.6.6 (from 2.6.5 FC2), and umount worked like it was supposed to.
Enter 7-8-04. I had more updates. The up2date update manager froze at the very end of updating. It didn't really cause problems that I could see. However, when I tried to copy files from the flash drive to the hd, the system froze. I ended up having to reboot the system windoze style. When I did, the system no longer recognized the drive. I tried the drive on Xp, but the system said the drive wasn't formatted. I reformatted the drive as Fat32. Now the windoze system can read and write to disk, but FC2 still does not recognize the drive. I have tried both kernels (2.6.5 and 2.6.6) and I have tried modprobing all relevent modules as well as a new one (usb_storage).
One more thing... Yes, I did try to fix it on my own by searching for similar posts. I haven't seen anything similar...
If you've got a clue, I'm all ears. Thank you.
