Unhappy URPMI intermittently fails FTP downloads

Hi all,
I've already posted a message regarding this problem in this forum, so apologies for that, but I've since realised that my interpretation of the problem was wrong, and thus my thread title was horribly inaccurate. :-P

Anywayz, the scenario is this -

I'm running Mandrake 9.2, and I wanted to install a few apps which were located on FTP repositories.

I used the urpmi.addmedia command, which connects to the servers, downloads the hdlist.cz (or equivalent) without incident or error.

If I then open the RPM management software, I can then search and select to install software from the repository, and it does what it's supposed to and offers to download the relevant dependencies, I click Ok, and the download begins - no problem so far.

The problem arises in that after it has (successfully) downloaded maybe two or three packages, it will stop and bring up a window saying 'Some packages have bad or missing signatures' and then list whatever packages it didn't download with the message 'Bad or missing signature. Could not open file' next to them.

If I then close the RPM manager down and open it again, I can usually get the next two or three files before it fails.

Eventually, if I sit and keep an eye on the PC for the entire process, restarting the installer as necessary, it will eventually get all the RPMs and install the software.

The problem is that I don't have the time to sit and monitor it, and I would really like to get it working the way its supposed to - without human input. :-(

I've tried this with two different repositories, one in Taiwan and one in Australia. I'm in New Zealand, connecting via a reasonably stable 56k dial-up.

Any ideas?

Thx,

Brett C,
AKL
