Unzip error in linux - error: Zip file too big

I am getting the below error message while unzipping a 5GB zip file.

# unzip MCRealty.zip
error: Zip file too big (greater than 4294959102 bytes)
Archive: MCRealty.zip
warning [MCRealty.zip]: 985552345 extra bytes at beginning or within zipfile
(attempting to process anyway)
error [MCRealty.zip]: start of central directory not found;
zipfile corrupt.
(please check that you have transferred or created the zipfile in the
appropriate BINARY mode and that you have compiled UnZip properly)

I created this zip file from a windows machine using 7 zip and transferred to the linux server. But I couldn't unzip this..

My OS is 64 bit CentOS 5.6. Please help me to solve this issue.

It is a limitation of the zip tool. Have you tried to use 7zip? On CentOS it should be provided by the p7zip package and the command is 7za.

Indeed a very poor imitation. I also recommend 7zip, it handles large files with ease.

Kind of hard to tell right now. I am not sure if the file is indeed OK. One of the hidden good things about using zip files is the built in test it performs when trying to un-zip.

So, either you set the wrong settings when you did zip it, or some application issue at either side or a problem with the actual file data along the way.
