Uninstalling Wine

I have been trying to uninstall wine so that maybe I could install it properly with Synaptic. but when I try I get an error code 255. I also tried to uninstall it from the console and got this

error reading information on service wine: No such file or directory
error: %preun(wine-20030709-1rh8winehq) scriptlet failed, exit status 1

if I understand it correctly I don't have a wine directory but in Synaptic it shows up as being there and can't remove it, do I need to go in and manually delelte all the files?

if you use rh,try "rpm -e wine"

I got the exact same error

[root@localhost root]# rpm -e wine
error reading information on service wine: No such file or directory
error: %preun(wine-20030709-1rh8winehq) scriptlet failed, exit status 1

try this rpm -e --noscripts wine using the full rpm name installed. It worked for me
