Unable to upgrade pulse audio on my system with sourcecode

I am using a linux from scratch distro......and when upgrading pulseaudio from 13.0 to 16.1 I try to recompile alsa-plugins and get the following error:

Why is it still looking for an old library? shouldnt it be looking for 16.1?

This is driving me crazy, I can upgrade my other packages just fine but whatever the reason this one is stubborn.

/bin/grep: /usr/lib/pulseaudio/libpulsecommon-13.0.la: No such file or directory

1) make sure the file mentioned is not a deal softlink

2) make sure you uninstall every file of 13. try

$ cd /usr/src/puseaudio-13.x
$ make uninstall

(you may have to rebuild 13 first to run uninstall from where you sit)

You probably have some file (perhaps .pc) that says pulseaudio is using the .la which the installer is tripping over.
