Question unable to save file


i'm in home dir... run mcedit > create file and when save - "cannot save"
as root i manange to do that...
what could be problem? permission? i check - user dir has
perms: drwxr-xr-x

You said "home" directory, and then "user dir"

You need to have write privileges to the directory in order to save a file there. In your example, the owner has write privileges, but noone else does.

chown---to change ownership
chmod---to change permissions

i figured it out...
my user dir was owned by root...
