Unhappy Unable to delete users from the server

Hello All,

When iam trying to delete user from the server iam getting following error
root@velm:~# userdel -rf da_i3d5436
userdel: Unknown user `da_i3d5436'.
root@velm:~# userdel -f da_i3d5436
userdel: Unknown user `da_i3d5436'.
root@velm:~# id da_i3d5436
uid=1118335433(da_i3d5436) gid=10000(lnxuser) groups=10000(lnxuser)
root@velm:~#

Even that user does not exist in YAST as well, i was also getting errors like user does not exist in /etc/passwd, /etc/shadow.

Can anyone please help me on this

That's a very high uid..
How was this user created? Do you use some directory service like LDAP, AD or the likes?
Does the users homedir exist?
Can you login with that username? (If you don't have & can't set the password, try as root "su da_i3d5436"
Please post output of
grep da_i3d5436 /etc/passwd

Sorry for the delay, Actually user was in our linux environment we dont create users with da_xxxxx ids as far as i know in Windows env. for domain admin id use to be created with this..

user's home directory does not exist

i tried logging with that user id and even tried resetting the passwd but no luck as its showing that user does not exist

root@velm:~# passwd da_i0cbxal
passwd: Unknown user `da_i0cbxal'.
root@velm:~# grep da_i3d5436 /etc/passwd
root@velm:~#

Actually the problem is everytime the id is in audit finding asn we have to remove user at any cost even we tried rebooting it but no luck...

Will wait for your response, please let me know if you need any other info

As Pingu said/implied, the user is defined elsewhere, and with an id like that, likely LDAP or Active Directory.
If it was a locally defined user, there'd be an entry in /etc/passwd & /etc/shadow.

Please don't use text-speak. And did you not understand what chris said? The user does not exist locally. If it doesn't exist....you can't delete it, can you?

As said, the user is probably in LDAP or some other authentication mechanism. Have you looked there?
