Post unable to connect to internet but dns is working fine


hi pals

i was trying to configure the ubuntu 8.10 server. edition as mail server.
my issue is i was unable to connect to internet.
i was able to ping to the gateway but unable to connect to internet..
all the ip address and other details which i gave is correct upto me.

sudo ping 192.169.12.xxxx
i'm getting the reply
but
sudo ping www.google.com
i'm getting PING www.l.google.com(209.85.153.104) 56(84) bytes of data

upto me DNS is working but net is not connecting.

kindly help me

This problem of firewall or the router who block your connexion, i had 2 times this problem before. please check your router if you are behind a router and check your firewall , you have selinux disabled ?

why are you using sudo with ping? Normally that is not necessary.

i'm using hardware firewall and i need to give username and password to login ususlly in windows...i dono how could i bye pass the firewall... can u usggest links to disable SELINUX....?
