julianvb Member Registered: Apr 2009 Posts: 390 Rep:	Ubuntu Linux : DVD Drive Mounted but Unseen on Desktop I re-installed Ubuntu 12.04 yesterday in order to replace a bad hard drive. Now the DVD drive no longer works. I can mount it from the command line all right but its icon is not displayed by the desktop. VLC Media Player does not see the disk either. When I enter 'clvc /dev/dvd', I see many lines of error codes and the disk's title appears only briefly on the screen. julianvb Last edited by julianvb; 02-20-2014 at 10:58 PM.
