Ubuntu 12.04 Fails to Detect External Modem
After I plug in a Robotics 33.6 faxmodem to an HP Compaq d530 tabletop computer running Ubuntu 12.04, GUI fails to show a modem icon and lshw does not list any modem either. What can I do to make Linux recognize the device?
When I received this mail-order computer, I found that the vendor had removed the original internal modem from the machine. They told me that I could go online using Ethernet or wireless. I was very disappointed.
Your help will be greatly appreciated.
