I'm currently using Mandriva 2007 Spring. I've downloaded Pidgin 2.0.1 as the file pidgin-2.0.1.tar.bz2. After typing "tar -xvjf pidgin-2.0.1.tar.bz2", the directory /usr/local/src/pidgin-2.0.1 was created. I go into there and type "./configure", but I get an error that says this:

What am I doing wrong? Any help is GREATLY appreciated! Thank you!

Install the compiler and development tools. Go through you package manager to find them (no experience with Mandriva).

You don't have gcc installed (or most unlikely it's not in your PATH). Use your package manager to install gcc, automake, autoconf and the rest of the development tools you need to compile programs from source.
