Translucent effects on all windows

I'm trying to enable translucence on all my screens, but when I try, it crashes like three times and a message prompt says that it is is diabled for that session. Same thing when I rebboot and try it again. Any suggestions on how I can fix this?

Yes, wait. Composite ( Which is what is doing the translucent effects ) is still pretty experimental and only works for sme people, and then it sometimes crashs.

In fact if its switched on I can't even get into X, never mind make things translucent.
