Text Base Internet


Hello to all Linux Enthusias?

I'm new Linux users

My question is how can I use a text base internet to my Red Hat 9 OS . Do i need a software package or download it or configure some services ,,

I need to know more in Linux really love this OS ,..

HI,

try one of lynx or links. On most installs they are already installed and if not so, it's no problem to install them. links is able to show frames, so it's more comfortable to view sites with this one.

i would highly reccoment w3m for text browsing. you can take a look at the HP for it here: http://w3m.sourceforge.net/

it handles some things better than links. i would stay away from lynx, its a bit dated now, and besides, links is from the same guys and has further capabilities than lynx does.

Thanks Guys ;

I have already downloaded this tar files w3m-0.5.tar.gz -May 2004 rel..and I already extract it,,"w3m-0.5" directory contains some files that i could not unsdestand,what is the next step to process the installation .of this text base internet ,.....In windows system you just double click the .exe file and it loads automatically... What shall I do next ?..

Appreciate your usual response...


, What is the next step should I do ..Tell you guys I have zero knowledge to this operating system .

There should be a file named README and perhaps INSTALL. Read them. They will tell you exactly what you need to know.
