telnet - FAIL: telnet address from=15.8.29.14
Hi,
I'm trying to get telnetd working, so I can telnet to a machine. I changed the /etc/xinetd.d/telnetd file to the following:
service telnet
{
flags = REUSE
socket_type = stream
wait = no
user = root
server = /usr/sbin/in.telnetd
log_on_failure += USERID
disable = no
}
Then I restarted xinet and I was able to connect to telnetd, but it drops me with:
hplx0473 Kirk /local/home/kgruell $
-> telnet -l tripoli utah6063
Trying 15.98.5.14...
Connected to utah6063.
Escape character is '^]'.
Connection closed by foreign host.
I do not have a /etc/hosts.allow or /etc/hosts.deny file, which I seen many references to with other posts. I do have a machine that telnetd is working, and I do not see a difference in their setup.
Thanks in advance,
Kirk
