Teleprompter
I require some type of teleprompter-like software in order to do some school work that I need to do this weekend. Trial is good... freeware is better. Can anyone help?
All I need is something that scrolls text and will pause when the spacebar is pressed.

You can get a similar effect using the 'less' command.
$ less filename.txt
Then PageDown instead of hitting the Spacebar.
Or you could use the 'more' command.
$ more filename.txt
Then press the Spacebar to page down through the text.
Send you video through a projector... Instant teleprompter.
(hehe... scratch that word 'instant'. )

Thanks... but two things...
1) I need the text to be big. Readable about 15 feet away
2) I need the spacebar to pause or start autoscrolling.

So, you need a hardware solution as well?
Can't help you there, except for the projector idea.
Good luck.

No... I've already got a 17" monitor to use with this. I just need it to be in BIG text so that it's readable.

Perhaps javascript in a webpage would be an easier way?
Doing it through bash isn't feasible, you'll have to do something that uses GTK librarys or something to do larger fonts.
I'd say the easiest route would be writing a javascript or even a java applet, heck even flash.

I think Javascript/HTML is a good idea!
But you know, it can be done in bash. Only, the text won't scroll smoothly, but line by line, and it will be the enter key that will pause/resume. Interested?
Yves.
