Does anyone here use Ted? I'm looking for a lightweight stand-alone word processor and Ted seems to be the lightest, but when compiling from source I get an error "undefined reference to png_info_init". The SlackBuild breaks with the same error, even after reinstalling libpng.
A google search reveals nothing except that this "png_info_init" is deprecated, and I don't think it's even included in libpng anymore. I think I'll try to contact the developers but before I do that I was wondering if anyone has seen this before and how they fixed it. Or if anyone has any suggestions for a stand-alone word processor besides Abiword or Ted. I really don't want to have to install all the dependencies and packages for Open- or LibreOffice when I'm not going to use the rest of the suite.
Hell, I don't even need an English-based word processor. If anyone knows of a German-based one, that would actually be ideal, as the papers I have to write will be in German.
I looked for the Ted slackbuild for 13.37 on slackbuilds and did not find one.
I have never used ted so I don't know what the type of features you want and how lightweight it is, but you may want to look into Abiword (http://slackbuilds.org/repository/13.37/office/abiword/), and Kword comes with the slackware install disks along with the KDE packages if I remember correctly but that isn't too lightweight.

Thank you Jenni,
The Slackbuild for Ted is for 13.0 but I figured I'd try it out anyway.
I might try to install AbiWord again as I can't remember what error I got last time I tried, but I remember it having a surprising amount of dependencies! I guess that's what I get for trying to get away with a minimal Slackware install...
For a small install, it may be easier to use something like google docs, just write up a draft in plain text then use google docs to put in all the formatting.. not a preferred solution but it keeps the things you need to do to your own install of slackware to a minimum. I did this for a few papers in university because I didn't want to install a word processor.
