Sync Samba and Linux passwords

Hi all,

I've done a million google searches to try and find the solution to my problem, which is:

I have installed the latest version of Redhat Enterprise Linux
I simply want to sync samba passwords to linux passwords for all users.

There has to be a simple solution to this. I just can't find it.

At the end of the day, the only thing that seems to work is to use passwd to change Linux passwords, and then use smbpasswd to manually keep the two in sync.

Any ideas anyone?

You can do it the other way and have Samba sync with Linux. There's some info at http://us1.samba.org/samba/docs/using_samba/ch09.html, search for Password Synchronization. The settings I've added to my /etc/samba/smb.conf are:

unix password sync = yes
passwd program = /usr/bin/passwd %u
passwd chat = *New*password* %n\n *new*password* %n\n *Password*changed*
