Sun ASP and apache 2-install problems

well, first of all, the programs full name is Sun Java System Active Server Pages....and it won't install right...i somhow got it working before i had to reinstall linux...but anyway...when it gets to the part where it scans for webservers, it finds apache but says "Unable to detect webserver port"...so then i have to manually specify it....i used /etc/apache2/apache2.conf as the configuration file and /usr/sbin/apache2 as the binary executable...then when it goes to the screen to "configure" apache, it hangs...

im running debian linux with a 2.4 kernel...

P.S. the only downloads they had on the sun site were these

Sun Java System Active Server Pages 4.0.2, AIX 5.1/AIX 5.2/HP-UX 11i/Red Hat Enterprise Linux 2.1/RedHat Enterprise Linux 3.0/Solaris 10 - SPARC/Solaris 10 - x86/Solaris 9 - x86/Solaris SPARC 8/Solaris SPARC 9/Windows 2000 Server/Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition/Windows XP Professional, English, Download

so i downloaded the one for Red Hat...
