Struggling with FreeNX -- No connection and no errors

Hey all, I'm trying to connect to a Debian 6 server from my Windows XP workstation and not having much luck. My session looks like it's working fine up until I get a red graphic "!M" and then I get "Session ServerName failed." Here's the session detail file:

Info: Display running with pid '4276' and handler '0x1b06dc'.

NXPROXY - Version 3.5.0

Copyright (C) 2001, 2011 NoMachine.
See http://www.nomachine.com/ for more information.

Info: Proxy running in client mode with pid '2272'.
Session: Starting session at 'Wed Jun 27 14:55:19 2012'.
Info: Connection with remote proxy completed.
Info: Using WAN link parameters 768/24/1/0.
Info: Using cache parameters 4/4096KB/16384KB/16384KB.
Info: Using pack method 'adaptive-9' with session 'windows-helper'.
Info: Using ZLIB data compression 1/1/32.
Info: Using ZLIB stream compression 1/1.
Info: No suitable cache file found.
Info: Forwarding X11 connections to display ':0'.
Info: Forwarding auxiliary X11 connections to display ':0'.
Info: Listening to font server connections on port '11000'.
Session: Session started at 'Wed Jun 27 14:55:19 2012'.
Info: Established X server connection.
Info: Using shared memory parameters 0/0K.
Session: Terminating session at 'Wed Jun 27 14:55:19 2012'.
Session: Session terminated at 'Wed Jun 27 14:55:19 2012'.

I haven't paid much attention to the "Info: No suitable cache file found" line because the process continues on. This is a Debian server and many of the files are in different locations from what I've seen on the nomachine and freenx sites. AND, there's no nxserverlog anywhere on this server. Any ideas? I was hoping to get FreeNX working but I'm thinking I may have to go to tightVNC instead.

Thanks,

Joe B

FreeNX requires the use of keys, did you generate one and import it on the client?

Hey kbp, No I didn't do that. I will look into it and see if that fixes my problem.

Thanks,

kbp, I did the nxkeygen, copied the file to my workstation and imported it into my client software but I'm still getting the same error. Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Joe B

Hi kbp, I just remoted in to the server (it's a ways away) and I couldn't find anything under /var/log or in the FreeNX folder. Where should I look to find its log files?

Thanks,

Joe B
