stremtuner xmms hangs on most stations

running debian sid. with a broadband connection, and no network issues.
The problem: when I click on a station in streamtuner, nine times out of ten xmmx pops up and shows "Connected: waiting for reply" and then nothing. CPU is pegged and thats it, no matter how long I wait. Is there a setting I'm missing that would allow me to hear more stations or is it just that some stations have lousy connections. I googled and searched this forum and a few others to no avail.

Don't know why xmms not playing streams but realplayer has no problems try using that instead.

It isn't that xmms won't play at all. It will only play a few.
I'll give realplayer a shot though, thanks.
