strange network card problem

Ibm PIII 750Mhz laptop
Dual boot XP and FEDORA.
Problem with networking on FEDORA.
Network card works fine on XP. Previously used Suse. Was no problem.

Problem:
I can ping and dig from FEDORA only first 30 seconds after it loads graphic
interface.
I succseded to e-mail file to another systerm from it.
netstat -in shows device not found !???
After reboot I left it pinging and it stops in 30 sec.
Looks like there is little "something" that disables network card.
What to check. Thanks.
