strange error in Openoffice.org

recently i moved my Openoffice.org directory to a different partition to make more room. the programs still work no problem, except when i save something and get the following error about 15 times for different .xlb files:

Error loading BASIC of document
file:///opt/OpenOffice.org1.1/share/basic/Euro/script.xlb/:
General Error
General Input/Output Error

the document seem to save without trouble, but it's really annoying to have to click ok so many times. does anyone know how to fix this without recompiling the whole package?

It's a permissions error. Check the folder you're writing to, and make sure you have full write privileges. I went through this exact issue myslef once upon a time. Either save to your home directory, or change the permissions on the directory into which you save.

the directory i'm saving into has drwxrwxrwx permission, and the soffice executable has -r-xr-xr-x (not that it should make any difference). i also tried saving something to my home directory and got the same errors.

OK, I looked at your issue more closely. You need to create a link from opt/OpenOffice.org1.1/share/basic/Euro/script.xlb/ to your current OpenOffice directory. Your other option is to recompile. I know this isn't what you wish, so make the link to your current directory.

alright, thanks for the info. i don't feel like creating 15 different symlinks, so maybe i'll just make uninstall and reinstall.

thanks,
