Hail All,
I installed on Redhat 8.0 with all the apache, squirrlemail, mod_php and imap that came on the Redhat 8.0 CD but now I am getting an error message:

"Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded /usr/share/squirrelmail/functions/imap_general.php on line 86"

I have been looking around for the answer to this problem for awhile and tried different installs of different version of apache and php but I am suspecting that it has to do with IMAP. I was able to connect to the sendmail server when I point the squirrelmail to use the sendmail server for the imap server but when I point squirrelmail to my Exchange 2000 box I get this error.

HOWEVER, event tho I see this, i have an squirrelmail solution that is working (I didn't install it) with my exchange server.

does anyone have any input to what can be the reason why I am receiving this error?

Not knowing anything about exchange - all I can offer is a couple of suggestions. First off, does your exchange server accept requests from the host (in this case the web server with squirrelmail on it)?

Second - you may need to fine-tune your IMAP comm settings within the squirrelmail setup script. Check the wiki at squirrelmail.org to see how others may have already accomplished this.

(BTW - SquirrelMail has been a great webmail server for our needs and it keeps improving.)
