soxmix on ubuntu 8.04

Hi

I need soxmix installed on an unbuntu 8.04. (I use soxmix for recording on Asterisk). apt-get install soxmix does not work. Is there any way toget soxmix to work on ubuntu? Why is it not included? I normally use Centos and soxmix is always availible on Centos machines.

Thanks

Its a remote no-gui install,so cannot use GUI updater. I would have expected apt-get to have it. Does not look like its got gsm support as well.

then better to get packages in a local pc via
apt-get update to update the package lists,
apt-get install sox to install the package.
then scp it to remote pc.there install it from the deb packages.

Or try to compile from Source,if binaries are not avail precompiled
