The site I found was
http://www.linuxhq.com/kernel/v2.6/1...atch_realtek.c
What happens every time I boot is that my sound is loaded but doesn't work. I hear a sound in the speakers that is an indication for me that it does find my speakers/soundcard. But no sound is played when I choose a player to do so. But if I run alsaconf, it works.
When in type in 'dmesg' I see that something is not going right. Something like: Unknown model for ALC880, trying autoprobe from BIOS.
This seems to fail because I see message: driver loaded using 3-stack mode
But no sound. I typed in these messages and found a website that apparently knew about the problem and created a patch. The url is above and seems to be a patch also for the ALC880_CLEVO, which I have.
That is why I had the question how to use a patch. Does it have to do with something I read sometimes about called recompiling the kernel? Or is a patch done from the command line and in what form? Or does this url represent a file that I have to create and run or replace another.
I also found out that this is a known problem for this sound device and more people are struggling with it, but with no luck, maybe the patch does.
Greetings, Ron
