Can anyone recommend (if it exists) a good software search engine for linux something like download.com ?
I've been looking for a good thumbnailer program. I'm trying to find something similar to ThumbsPlus for windows. I tried searching on download.com but every time I try to narrow the results to just linux software, I get 0 results.
If anyone can recommend such a program, that would be helpful too, but I'd love to find a good search site for future stuff too.
Start with google, that's always step one. Found a program you like? See if the website has a binary for your distro.
Download.com is mainly a win shareware site which normally does not turn up anything good for linux. Besides switching to linux, which is a smart step if you like to know more about computers, you have to upgrade your search habbits aswell. Look up some howto's on how to search smart and find what you need on google. Where to find that howto? Use google
Sourceforge.net should turn up plenty to.
Distribution: Fedora 18, Puppy Linux, various others

You don't tell us which distribution you use, more info would be helpful. If you use an rpm-based distro, you might try http://www.rpmseek.com/index.html or http://rpmfind.net/ If you are using a debian based distro, well, debian comes with more packages than grains of sand at the local beach!!! Happy Computing, Kurt
freshmeat.net and www.tucows.com, as mentioned, are both good. If you're not afraid of bleeding-edge software, sourceforge.net makes a nice browse, as well.
