Some software downloaded with Software Manager (Mint 9-Gnome) does not show in Menu

While I was downloading software through the Software Manager of Linux Mint 9 - Gnome, I noticed that not all the programs received a shortcut to the Mint Menu. Does anyone know why this is and how I can correct it?

From system --> administration you should be able to edit the menu manually

Problem solved! I gave the command killall gnome-panel in the terminal (I found the command at http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/terminal) and now the missing programs do show up in the Mint Menu...
