Software RAID Setup

Hello,

I've put a question up sometime ago about this issue and no one responded. I cannot believe no one knows what to do to solve this issue, but here it goes again. . .

I have a Compaq SCSI, 7 drive array attached to my Linux server. One of the drives I originally installed was defective and had to be replaced.

So, when I did my install of Linux originally, I only mounted 6 drives. Now, all of the drives are working fine. However, the 7th drive is not being mounted into the RAID array. I adjusted the raidtab and etc/fstab files to account for the 7th drive but I know that no data is being written to it.

What I had to do before to solve this problem was blow away the install and start over again. However, that is a major pita and I don't really want to do that.

If someone has any ideas as to how to install a drive into a RAID array after Linux has been installed, please help me. Thanks.

Scott, I dont know if I can be of any help or not...but have you checked the Software RAID HOWTO on LinuxHQ.com? I myself have been trying to get an external Compaq tower array setup post-install and have been having problems. And from all the searching I've done it seems that that HOWTO is the best source of info seeing as how it seems no one else in the world has set one of these up before...
