Software for showing different "images" on projectors and PC?

Hello guys,
I'm using Ubuntu for quite some time know, also for keeping presentations with the help of an video projector. Everything is working fine, i mean what I see on the laptop LCD I can see on video projector also. But a few days a go, i have seen a user with windows 7 using that projector like this:
On his LCD was the presentation, and also some notes (like the screen was split in half - on the left half the presentation and on the right side the notes), and on the video projector was only the presentation. That was awsome.
Do you know any software that can do that in linux? I mean to be able to control what windows to be showned by the projector? The problem is that i don't know if that was a feature natively in windows 7 implemented or if he was using a separate software to control what is showned on the projector.
Thx!

Somewhere you will have a control panel for multiple monitors. You can set up 2 monitors to be side-by-side, or to be clones (both showing the same thing)
