SLES9, apache2 and php5 ...

I am trying to configure a SLES9 server with apache2, php5, an ODBC connection to an MSSql database, and mysql 4.1 something.

The mysql and php5 are NOT what come with SLES. I found rpm's at
various sites, they seem to work, I have php5 with mysql support
installed and also installed a mod_php5 or something for apache
support of php5. The ODBC connection is using unixODBC as the driver manager and freetds as the odbc driver that can connect to MSSQL.

I have the basic web sites installed, the odbc connection to MSSQL
works, too. But it appears , despite having installed
the "mod_php5" stuff, that apache and php5 are not working together. Anyone have any tips on how to accomplish this?

What conf files do I need to edit and with what values ... I've been searching the docs on the php site, but ... well the volume of informatioin is just too huge. Thus far I have not been able to hit on the particular things I need to do.

Probably next I will learn that mysql and apache are not talking ...
but for now, let me try to fix php5!

;-)

did you include .php5 to AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .php5 .php4 .php3 in httpd.conf?

well in SLES we are discouraged from editing httpd.conf (because it can be over-written by updates) but there is an include directory called conf.d that has a php5.conf file. The directory index and AddType application stuff is in there.

When I hit the servers web page and try to do phpinfo.php, nothing happens.

Is there some way to check to see whether php5 is running? Can I pgrep for something, or ????
