Try booting from a floppy; mount your hardrive with:

mount /dev/hda1 /mnt

I'm assuming that your linux partition is on hda1, subsitute as needed.

cd to /mnt; chroot /mnt

Check your lilo.conf file and then rerun lilo:

/sbin/lilo -C /etc/lilo.conf

If you reboot and that does not work. I'd suggest that you try another kernel image from the kernels directory on your slackware cd. Put the image and map file in the / directory and rerun lilo again.

i had the same problem when i installed slack8... i never even saw the 'LI'.. the screen was blank...

i booted from the cd, moved the kernel that was compiled by the installer from / to /boot, then edited lilo... after booting it still came up black... after booting from the cd, i compiled kernel-2.4.5, edited lilo, rebooted and it worked.. i can now boot into both kernels.. im not sure what happened but its fixed... kindve weird..

another reminder.....
make sure you run /sbin/lilo after editing /etc/lilo.conf
