Slack10 Install prob "Seg Fault Error"

I decided to give slackware 10 a try. I broke down and built a box just for slackware. Okay i have the drive setup as is. hda1 = boot ... hda2 = swap ... hda3 = /.... that's the way i have it parted... okay no biggie... okay no once i have configed the drive, and i am ready with what packages that i want installed. I go ahead and start the install process. Which is installing packages.... Once it starts to install the first package it gives me a SEGFAULT ERROR under the Gui Text Box. then goes onto the next package and keeps going... But then stops... What is causing this bad ram???

Two things can cause a SegFault with installation. The first, as you suggest is bad RAM. But this tends to cause faults that are intermittant and not very frequent.

The most likely culpret here is a badly burnt CD; try burning the CD again. If you can, take an image off the CD and verify that it's the same as what you originally burnt.

The other possible culpret is an overclocked CPU.
