Digital cameras usually come combined with easy to use uploader/editor/album software. These have the basic features that someone who just wants only to print or email their photos would need. Is there a very simple programs like this for Linux? These could be separate programs, but they should be all fairly similar in their interfaces, ie. either for KDE or for GNOME.
Linux is not ms-windows, i get the impression you are a new user of Linux...
i suggest you quit looking at GNU/Linux from a Windows point of view...
what i use for my digital camera is gphoto2 from a terminal and have set up gtkam for a user friendly gui for extracting photographs from digital cameras, there is a good possibility these tools are allready included with your distribution...
and for editing and doing touchup on my photos i use The GIMP...
If you use KDE, try digikam for downloading images from your camera and touching up images. If you use GNOME, try gthumb and f-spot in conjunction with the gimp.
Add this to the forgoing responses. Pixie is an excellent album utility. I don'r recall if there is also editing capability.
The Gimp can careainly edit images.
Then there is Image Magick. I got used to the command-line version, but it's out now in GUI version.
