shoutcast internet radio server
I would like to setup a SIMPLE internet radio server, something where i can upload MP3 files to a folder, and the broadcast them over initially a Lan, but then the Net
I have downloaded and installed sc_serv on fedora Core 4 and told the config file where the MP3 files i want to play are, i have a feeling i need to do more than this.. as when i tell XMMS (or Winap in XP) to look at http://localhost:8000 i get a password error..
So my questions
1) does anyone have any idiot proof instructions on how to setup Shoutcast? What i need, what does what etc..
or
2) Is there a REALLY simple soloution for setting up a BASIC internet radio station?
If you just want to listen to your music collection I recommend the following: http://www.gnu.org/software/gnump3d/
Very simple to setup and run.
Shoutcast is geared more towards those who really want to stream out an internet show. We used on it The Linux Link Tech Show to feed our streaming mirrors during the show. A little more complex to setup but you can do a whole lot more.

scheduling with Shoutcast
Ok, i am now running internally a mix of both the abpve software and shoutcast server, i have a Windows box pointing Winamp and the DSP to the Linux shoutcast server, and its working a dream, thanks for the motivation. Now a further question if i may...
does anyone know of, software or a way i could which we could setup a broadcast schedule, so basically, the students could record 15/20 minute shows, and thier shows would start at predefined times, and then between these sheduled times, during "blank time" mp3 music would fill the space?
Using a mix of Linux/Shoutcast server and XP Winamp "Feeder"

Thank you anyway, i will file this away for future refererence.
You don't have to run Dynebolic to run muse. It's a simple way to get it running quick and dirty. You can install Muse on your current server.
