Setting Up xf86-video drivers for Xorg?

I'm trying to setup the xf86-video-cube driver for Debian on the Wii, but I can't figure it out at all.

I followed this tutorial, but it did not help. There is no "xorg.conf" file anywhere on the system and even after installing the drivers how it says, when I run "startx" the desktop environment still has major color problems.

I thought running "Xorg -configure" might generate an "xorg.conf" file, but all that does is crash the entire system! The entire screen clears to just one, frozen line and it just stays like that forever.

Does anyone know how you'd go about installing an xf86-video driver in Debian Squeeze for Xorg?

I'm not familiar with debian, but this info might be generic enough to work on
debian as well.

when you start the program X with an unknown option you get some help (eg X --help)

try "X -configure" as root
this will generate a file in /root to play you can specify the configfile when starting X
(eg X -config /root/xorg.generated)

once you have it working you can move this modified file to /etc/X11/xorg.conf (if there are similar files
in that directory)
