setting up lilo

i've set my lilo up for a graphical boot, but the problem i have now is that i don't have a "boot:" prompt where i can enter kernel parameters and such. i can still enter boot parameters, but i have to do it blindly and it makes things pretty difficult. i've seen on some linux live distros, such as knoppix, the lilo screen is like half picture and half boot prompt.

another thing i liked about the knoppix lilo setup was that it doesnt show a boot menu, you have to type the label if you want to boot anything besides the default. i feel like this adds some privacy and security.

if anybody can tell me how to set either of these up, i'd appreciate it.

boot=/dev/hda
map=/boot/map
install=/boot/boot.b
compact
prompt
timeout=50
image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.0.36
label=linux
root=/dev/hda2
read-only
other=/dev/hda1
label=win

Add the 'prompt' word to lilo.conf.

it has prompt in it, if i take it out it just boots the default image without any prompt. i want a prompt, but no menu of images to load. so you would have to know the label and type it at the "boot:" prompt to boot anything besides the default image.

i want to make my boot screen look like this:http://www.techimo.com/photo/data/50...noppixboot.jpg only with a different picture. btw, how do they get the boot message and a picture? when i tried that, it said the "bitmap" and "message" options were mutually exclusive(you can only have one or the other).

right now it looks like this:http://insyte.atspace.com/files/Slac...Moonbooted.jpg
