Unhappy setiathome (3.08-4) will not install in ubuntu now I think im screwed

Here's the low-down I was installing seti@home with synaptic
every thing seemed to be fine when I noticed that it was taking a really long time.
A glance at the terminal showed this message:
Code:
Setting up setiathome (3.08-4) ...
setiathome-3.08.i686-pc-linux-gnu.tar not found in /tmp.
--07:30:48--  ftp://alien.ssl.berkeley.edu/pub/setiathome-3.08.i686-pc-linux-gnu.tar
           => `/tmp/file7GdtSA'
Resolving alien.ssl.berkeley.edu... 128.32.18.176
Connecting to alien.ssl.berkeley.edu|128.32.18.176|:21...
Error retrying
It seems that alien.ssl.berkeley.edu is unreachable or does not exist anymore.
lowered my firewall thought it was blocking it somehow ,but no dice.
Reset computer, tried again "dpkg --configure -a" still nothing.
typed http://alien.ssl.berkeley.edu in firefox it just sits there with the busy icon until the connection times out.
but all I really need is to reset apt-get somehow, make it forget about installing seti@home and go on about my everyday life.
So, if anyone knows how to fix this or any ideas please reply.

You need to install the boinc client software now setiathome has been shutdown. To try to solve the problem you have now dpkg -P package_name if this gives you an error then use --force-remove-reinstreq in place of the -P.
