set environment variables using GUI?

My company is trying to implement a GUI installer for our product and right now we're trying to implement a completely GUI way of setting the envrionment variables in the profile so that the GUI will run. Any ideas at all?

If the environment variables are just used for your installer program, you could have the variable=value; settings in the properties->execute line of gui installer preceding the actual installer program.

Hi -

Similarly, if you need these environment variables set permanently - for all users - you can have your GUI installer program update the system-wide environment file (for example, create or modify the host's "/etc/profile.local" file.

Hope that helps .. PSM
