Scroll with wheel mouse in Opera

I am having a problem with manual wheel scrolling in Opera. It scrolls though all the links on a page instead of down 3 lines at a time. The panning works, but I prefer to do it manually.
The scrolling works perfectly in other apps including web browsers.
Anyone gotten this to work properly.
I am using Opera 7.54, Mandrake 10.0 Official, KDE 3.2.3.

This is just a guess, but maybe your version of Opera came with custom mouse settings.

Take a look at 'Tools' --> 'Preferences' --> 'Mouse and keyboard'.

Look under 'Mouse setup' and make sure that 'Opera Standard' is chosen. I have 7.54 also, and this scrolls normally for me.

You might also try checking/unchecking 'Smooth scrolling', under 'Tools' --> 'Preferences' --> 'Windows' (mine is currently unchecked, but who knows?)

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, Opera standard is selected and the smooth scrolling didn't change anything.
The odd thing is if I middle-click for panning, then use the wheel, it works the way it supposed to.
I don't know.
