I am new to linux and I have installed Ubuntu Drake and tried the upgrade to the LTS. That is not the problem though. Everytime the screensaver comes up then my computer freezes and I have to cycle it in order for it to come back up...... Please advise
I used Ubuntu from Hoary, thru Breezy, then installed Dapper and have the same problem. This is a new bug in Ubuntu apparently, causing me to dump my former favorite OS, and go to Fedora Core 5. Wish I could get Ubuntu to work, but Dapper has this, and other problems for me.

I would follow suite but I don't know how to get the wireless card to work. F5 is what I used to use until I got a hold of Ubuntu. I might have to go to Linspire hmmmm.......
I had the same problem with Kubuntu 5.10 Breezy Badger while using the "space (GL)" screen saver. I read some place else to install this driver:
sudo apt-get install xorg-driver-fglrx
It took care of the locking up problem but the screen saver still would not start. I tried another screen saver (Euphoria (GL)) and it worked just fine.
