screen auto-poweroff stops working

Hiya,

I'm using Fedora Core 3 presently, but I've also had the same problem with Mandrake. It's been a minor irritation for quite a while.

I have my screen setup in KDE (Peripherals>Display>Power Control) to power off after 15 mins. It works fine after a while - my PC suspends the signal and my monitor duly obliges and goes to sleep. The trouble is - this stops working after a time. After about two days (at a guess, I haven't measured it), the screensaver kicks in but the signal is not suspended, and my monitor stays switched on. A reboot will fix it of course, and logging out and back in to restart X might sort it out as well, but I don't want to do either so often.

Any ideas?
