SCIM failed to start, what should I do

Recently I manage to compile and instll scim in gentoo.
But whenever I start it, it shows the output:
Code:
 $ scim
Smart Common Input Method 1.4.4

Launching a SCIM daemon with Socket FrontEnd...
Loading simple Config module ...
Creating backend ...
Loading socket FrontEnd module ...
Starting SCIM as daemon ...
Launching a SCIM process with x11...
Loading socket Config module ...
Creating backend ...
Loading x11 FrontEnd module ...
Failed to load x11 FrontEnd module.
SCIM has exited abnormally.
What should I do next ? I have no idea

i think you need to install from the source; install things in the right order - like, anthy, scim, and scim-anthy... etc etc. and do take care of ./configure and make and check if there is no error while compiling.

another thing is that sometimes i found it better to compile everything afresh. so say, if i found an error during compiling, and during make, i would delete the whole file first and re-extract the same file again from the source. make clean does not clean things correctly sometimes. i don't know. but that's what i found. and i often found it better this way and installations proceed smoothely.

take a look at this site. it might help you.
