I'm trying to install Redhat 6.1, but the video card isn't recognized to run Gnome or KDE Workstation.
How can I do ? Must I find a new distribution version ?
Thx,
Sylvain
Have you run the 'Xconfigurator' yet?
Does 'X' work at all?
What kind of error do you get with 'startx'?
Personally, I have used RH6 with many video cards with little or no problem, so I am unfamiliar with an error here, but I have had difficulty with X in the past. Post your errors for more help.
I basically had the same problem when I first installed Redhat 6.2
I never could get Xconfigurator to resolve it, so I ended up installing Redhat 7 on it and had no problems with it. Everything worked perfectly on first install.
You might need to update your xfree86 if this is the case. You don't need to get a new distro unless your lazy....hehe, I tend to take the lazy way out too sometimes but no....you need to update your xfree86 or update and download new drivers for your video, try going to the http://www.xfree86.org and find what version supports your card.
