rpm -bp command not working says "-bp: unknown option"

Dear Linux community,

I tried to install Berkeley DB compat-db-4.0.14-2.src.rpm however when I reached the step

the following outcome was produced when I tried to use the rpm -bp command.

[root@mars SPECS]# ls
compat-db.spec
[root@mars SPECS]# rpm -bp compat-db.spec
-bp: unknown option
[root@mars SPECS]#

I got the rpm -bp command from textbook, there should be any problem with it.

Thanks for helping,

try man rpm or rpm --help for a list of command line options.

(check capitalisation).

If I remember correctly, with rpm 4 the command is named rpmbuild.
