ROX-filer: file deletion and trash folder

Files deleted from rox-filer seem to be immediately erased and are not moved to the trash. I have installed libtrash making sure that the LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libtrash/ variable was correctly declared (I even added a line to my .xinitrc as suggested in a message in the ROX mailing list for extra security) hoping to solve the problem with, alas, no results.
What can I do to force rox-filer to use my trash folder?

I'm using rox 2.1.2 on a slackware 10.0 system using XFCE 4.0.6 as desktop environment.
