RH 9.0 not playing video or mp3

ok i installed RH 9 this past weekend and i got some notice saying that due to such and such RH 9 doesn't allow mp3 play i downloaded another version of xmms and mp3 are playing fine now on xmms...but now the problem is video...kaboodle will open but won't play any avi, mpeg, or anything like that...what gives? why is RH being such bitches...anyone know how i can get around this....thanks..

mp3 avi mpeg they all are closed source software thats why redhat does not include them in their dist but hey wait it is so easy to install them go to then download apt-get then in seconds you will be watching avi mpg
